A Bit About Me
Hello, friend. My name’s Joel. I’m the guy with his head in the clouds and his mouth filled with philosophical soliloquies. The guy you bump into outside the cafe, or see walking barefoot around the neighbourhood. If my feet are shod in anything it’s likely a pair of black leather boots with mud caked into the crevices. I wore those boots to Australia when I went seeking for myself while running away from my problems. They’re simple boots, and they do the job I need them to. That’s the usual story with me: a simple man. I like black coffee, homemade kombucha, rare steak with a side of potatoes, mechanical watches and black clothes. That sort of thing.
My writing and my photography are meant to be a distillation of beauty and truth. When we take the whole of life in all its complexity, and we discard the excess, the things unworthy of attachment to the divine images that we are as humans, what is it we are left with? That’s what I want. I want it for myself, and I want to share it with you. Because the pursuit of the beautiful is the pursuit of life itself. Without the one, I don’t want the other.
Will you join me in this pilgrimage? Even if our paths only go the same way for the walk from one village to the next, the journey is better with company.
